Directorate of Social Welfare

The Directorate of Social Welfare deals with the implementation of Schemes for the welfare of scheduled Castes, Other Backward classes, the Differently abled persons (Disabled), Senior Citizens, Destitutes, Safai Karmacharis and Beggars. The Directorate of Social Welfare is headed by the Director, three Deputy Director, four Assistant Directors, two District Welfare Officers, Statistical Officers, Assistant Accounts Officer heading the Accounts section, Office Superintendent for administration and establishment section along with the subordinate staff under each section.

The Department of Social Welfare, Government of Goa, is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable society by empowering marginalized and vulnerable communities. Our mission is to:

Promote the welfare of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) through educational support and financial assistance, ensuring equal opportunities for socio-economic upliftment.
Support senior citizens, destitute individuals, and persons with disabilities by providing financial aid, healthcare access, and social security benefits to enhance their quality of life.
Combat drug abuse through awareness campaigns, rehabilitation programs, and community-driven initiatives to create a drug-free society.
Implement and monitor various welfare schemes efficiently to ensure maximum outreach and impact for the underprivileged sections of society.
Through these initiatives, we strive to create a just, inclusive, and progressive society where every individual has the opportunity to lead a dignified life.
